The Isa Mother City Rollers is an Artistic Roller Skating club based in Cape Town.
We are a community club that is always evolving and growing to suit our member’s needs. Although our focus is on roller dance and artistic skating specifically, many of our skaters are involved in all types of roller skating throughout the city of Cape Town and we are excited to see how the sport will develop in the coming years.
Our Story
The club was founded in 2022 by a group of beginner roller skaters after meeting with Roller Sport South Africa, the national governing body of roller sports.
We want to increase participation in dance and artistic skating at all levels and grow a broader community which encourages skating as a dynamic, lifelong sport for all ages.
Our name & logo
‘Isa’ means beautiful or ‘mooi’ in the KhoiKhoi language.
We chose this name because as a club we celebrate the beauty of our Mother City (Cape Town) and the diversity of our home country, South Africa.
Our logo was inspired by our iconic Table Mountain and the stunning Cape Town sunsets we are lucky to enjoy so frequently at our sunset skate sessions.
Our mission
Isa Mother City Rollers is dedicated to promoting and encouraging the enjoyment of roller skating as a sport and leisure activity in Cape Town and the surrounding areas.
We aim to provide opportunities for people of all abilities and backgrounds to participate in dance roller skating and develop to their full potential in a safe and inclusive environment.
What we do:
Beginner Workshops
Learn the basics of Roller Skating and gain confidence on wheels with us. We aim to host beginner workshops regularly throughout the year in a safe and welcoming space.
Competition and Tests
Train with us to level up your artistic skating skills. We take part in testing with Roller Sport South Africa and have the opportunity to compete in both solo and group competitions nationally.
Performances
As a dance roller skating club, we love to perform and show off what we do! We take part in a number of performances, show classes and collaborations throughout the year.
